At ACSG we believe that a person’s years should not have to impede the life they lead. Nor should it impede their position of respect in their community or their entitlement to be free, independent and individual.

We believe that our relationship with a person is built upon an unbreakable mutual trust that must be treasured and which must meet each of their needs, desires and aspirations.

We believe that this is best achieved by centring our vision on the person, not the process, on flexibility, not the routine, and on innovation, not standardisation.

What This Means To You

Our practice of this philosophy means that when you choose to live with ACSG, you can expect to be free to make decisions about your life, how you spend your time, how much – or how little – we need to be involved in your life, what you do and who you do it with.

It means that you can expect that life with ACSG will not be a disruption from the life you have created over the years but that it will be designed with your latest needs in mind. You can expect that your family, friends, neighbours and acquaintances will be as welcome as you are. You can expect that the world outside ACSG will not be out of your reach.

It means that if we promise something, you can expect that we will carry out our promise. If we do something for you, you can expect that it will done by someone with the skills and training needed to do it well. And you can expect that we will do it when it suits you.

The Way We Will Do This

We will draw on the latest ideas from around the world and we will add in a few of our own to create ACSG communities where individuals can thrive and live exciting, valuable lives.

We will adhere to the values of the Eden Alternative to fight the plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom. If you need help or care, then we will ensure this is available with a Person-Centred approach that treats you as the individual that you are.

We will encourage creativity, flexibility and initiative in ACSG staff so that they are best able to use their skills and qualifications to give you access to the life you set out to live.

And we will value your ideas and contributions to ACSG so that we are always able to do these things better than before.
